The Dress Code

To be a good player you should know what is the do and don’ts in your attire. After all comfortable and safety is what you need.

Firstly, your top should be T-Shirt type or sleeveless, made up from light weight material. The shirt should fit  properly and be long enough to tuck in the shorts. Kira cam tak menggelebeh laaa…..

Your shorts must be from the material as your top, jenis yang menyerap peluh. So you will be comfortable all the times. And it comes with elastic waistband, barulah muat-muat and tak jatuh time tengah main…

A BIG NAA-AH

This is the most important part of your attire, SHOES. Jangan mengada nak pakai selipar je time main, fikir SAFETY la bangggg….
There are three types of shoe cut

High-tops
  •        Keep in mind that the vast majority of players, around 70% choose high-tops for their ability to    provide maximum ankle support
  •     Power players and all-around players usually prefer the stability of this style

    Mid-tops

    •         For players who feel restricted in high-tops, and who use speed as their greatest asset, mid-tops, which come to right at the ankle level, may be the answer

    Low-tops

    •          Only about 10% of players wear low-tops for regular play
    •          These are lighter, but don't offer the built-in ankle support that high-tops do

p/s: jangan lupa pakai socks / NEVER FORGET YOUR SOCKS

These are all the tips we can give you. Harap-harap membantu anda semua yang berminat untuk berjinak jinak dalam dunia bola keranjang ni. If you need more, check THIS out!!!

    Sneak-A-Peak

NCBL started on 29th May 2011, and is now in Week 4. This July 17th will mark the beginning of Week 5. Sepanjang 4 minggu, kita dapat lihat banyak ragam. Ada yang menang, ada yang kalah. Adat pertandingan. And, clearly seen all teams tried their best to defeat their opponents.

Let’s highlight one game –  Cocoro VS Phoenix. This is the first game won by Cocoro, kira ni macam pencapaian tertinggi diorang dalam season ni. Memang kalau kita tengok game, diorang main semangat, tapi most of them didn’t expect to win. But they managed to conquer the entire offensive and defensive rebounds, dominated the floor, and secured the WIN word with 12 points.

The latest game on 17th July, was the 5th week of the league. One of the games that was interesting was, Venom VS Malayan Titans. Malayan Titans, a famous team from Division One, consists of many powerful players. While Venom is from Division Two, they managed to lead in second quarter. At the end of the game, Malayan Titans lead by four points, 60-56. This is cool, even Venom is lost here,  at least it they tried their best to feat the big name like Malayan Titans.

There will be another 2 games on 24th July 2011, and 31st July 2011 before long holiday for Ramadhan and Aidilfitri. For the schedule, you can check here.

We wish to see better games next week… Good luck guys! Majulah sukan untuk Negara!!

    Hell- YEAH! Basketball

Westports KL Dragons is a professional basket ball team, established by a joint effort of Malaysia’s very own young successful entrepreneurs who have a passion for sports – Mr. Ruban Emir Gnanalingam, Dato’ Wira Dani Daim, and Dato’ Robin Tan Yeong Ching. Westsports KL Dragons is the first team to represent Malaysia in the Air Asia ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) which runs from the month of October till February anually.

KL Dragons will be organizing an under-14 and under-17 league with the objective of nurturing youth in basketball, and developing them into professional players.

“We will be creating another avenue for kids to participate in a healthy life style and sports by giving them a target and show should they strive to rise to the top, they can eventually play the game they loves as professionals players,” says Dato’ Wira Daim.

In Malaysia, basketball is managed by the Malaysia Amateur Basketball Association (MABA), whose major sponsor is Petronas. The Malaysian national basketball team represents Malaysia at international basketball competitions. Its sole appearance at a world championship was in 1986.

To win a game, player cannot just sit and rely on skills without practicing it. “When you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet him he will win,” says Ed Macauley.

Here, basketball is less popular among the non-Chinese citizens as there is not a lot of exposure to the sport in those communities. So, in order to attract the non-Chinese, there are special games organized by MABA and any other NGOs. Some of the leagues are:
    ·         University College Basketball League (UCBL)
    ·         National Community Basketball League (NCBL)
    ·         Majlis Sukan-sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM)
    ·         National Basketball League (NBL)
    ·         ASEAN Basketball League (ABL)

Basketball was invented by James Naismith, a Canadian teacher, born in Almonte, Ontario in December 1891. He was asked by his physical educator to invent an indoor game that could be play during cold winter. At last he created a sport that would develop skill and one that was not exclusively relying on strength. The first game was played with two peach baskets for goals and a soccer ball.

We can’t just win a game with a talent but we need a team work in our team,. “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships,” says Michael Jordan, American NBA Basketball Player.
